First practice is about building good habits, not winning bouts. The gear at this level is plastic, foam, and non-electric — safe, forgiving, inexpensive. You don't need anything more.
If you're outfitting a kid for a school program or a first lesson at one of our clubs, this is the right tier. Once they're consistently practicing weekly, move them up to intermediate gear.
