What weapon should my child start with?

If they're under 12, foil — most US youth circuits run foil heavy and right of way is easier to learn young. If they're 13 or older, sabre is usually the most accessible. Either way, our starter kits include weapon-specific gear for whatever they choose.

What's the difference between 350N and 800N gear?

350N (also called CEN Level 1) is the safety rating required for sanctioned US club practice and almost all US tournaments — it's the right level for the vast majority of American fencers. 800N (FIE-rated) is required for international competition and some elite US events.

How do I know what size mask to buy?

Wrap a soft tape measure around the widest part of your head, just above the ears. Compare to our sizing chart. If you're between sizes, size up. Better yet — email us your measurement and what you're buying, and we'll tell you the right size before you order.

What's in a starter set?

Mask, jacket, glove, weapon, and a body cord. Everything for first practice. Practice sets are non-electric. Complete sets add electric scoring components for fencers entering local competitions. See all six starter sets →

Do you offer discounts for schools and clubs?

How long does fencing gear last?

Masks last several seasons with normal use. Jackets and lamés last 2-3 seasons of club fencing. Gloves wear out fastest — typically one season for an active competitor. Weapons can last decades, but blades fail eventually and are easy to replace.
